Yellow Room

When children enter our
Yellow Room, there are lingering traits of babyhood. During the year children become increasingly articulate, emotionally complex, socially sophisticated individuals. We facilitate children's interactions and interests, stimulate their physical development through creative and diverse inside and outside play, and we foster independence and responsibility through meaningful dialogue and intentional activities. Most important is providing a warm, welcoming and loving first school experience that will set the foundation for the decades of schooling that is to follow.

Red Room
3's Program

M-T-W-TH-F
In our Red Room, children come together to form a cohesive learning and social community. Children grow increasingly independent and capable as they explore the social world and work with deeper focus and purpose with materials. Teachers continue to listen and observe but the children themselves take charge more and more of their own learning. Days are balanced between free-choice work times, large and small group activities, and opportunities to learn and play alone. Children learn in and out of the classroom, using our outdoor spaces and studio.

During their year in the Blue Room, children deepen their cooperative play utilizing and practicing their interpersonal and social skills. Built around the children’s interests, our curriculum encourages creative thinking, complex problem solving, collaboration and decision making while fostering a love of literacy, art, mathematics and Jewish traditions. Blue Roomers use New York City as an extension of the classroom allowing for rich, diverse, learning opportunities that support our studies. Children are prepared for kindergarten with academics integrated seamlessly into each day.
